hello!

I have a general question about kitchen assembly!
Did you build your kitchen completely by yourselves, or did you get help from Ikea?
We are still considering whether to use the partial assembly, where then someone just aligns and connects everything.

We are not really sure if we feel confident to connect, for example, the sink or the oven ourselves.
There would probably be an electrician we could ask for the connection, but is that advisable or should we rather get help?

What experiences have you had with assembly and connection?

Thanks for the answers!
Best regards
Kadi

Basically, for women who are reasonably skilled in handiwork around the house, assembling a kitchen is not a problem – but it takes time, strength, and nerves.

If you don’t really have to pinch every penny (or don’t have a nice and exploitable acquaintance who will do the assembly for you in exchange for a meal invitation), have the kitchen delivered and assembled by the assembly service.

[list:3gudx7yd]You save yourself the waiting time in case some parts are not deliverable or currently out of stock.[/list:u:3gudx7yd]
[list:3gudx7yd]You save yourself the trips because some small part was missing once again.[/list:u:3gudx7yd]
[list:3gudx7yd]You don’t have to go to the hardware store twenty-five times because you need some dowel or screw.[/list:u:3gudx7yd]
[list:3gudx7yd]You don’t risk drilling anything in the wrong place (handles!) because you made a mistake somewhere.[/list:u:3gudx7yd]
[list:3gudx7yd]You don’t stand there shaking your head in front of the assembly instructions, which are sometimes only suitable for illiterates.[/list:u:3gudx7yd]
[list:3gudx7yd]and so on and so forth…[/list:u:3gudx7yd]

I used to assemble EVERYTHING myself. But after we once had a Pax wardrobe assembled due to lack of time, I realized what a blessing this assembly service is. Of course, you have to supervise a little and watch what the strong men are doing, because they are no less prone to mistakes than any other craftsmen – but the time you save by using the service for an assembly is ultimately worth money too.

Thank you for the answer! :)

Fortunately, I still have a friend who is also helping with the assembly! So I’m not alone, although of course I am basically a talented assembly woman! :D

The complete assembly is simply too expensive for us since the price is calculated per meter and because we have a fairly large kitchen, that would probably be around 600-700 euros.
Therefore, at first we only wanted to use the partial assembly. So we assemble everything ourselves and then someone comes to connect and align everything. In my opinion, the handles are already mounted by us at that point.
That only costs 160 euros.
But how it looks to me now, I found the assembly relatively easy so far. I just don’t know if we dare to connect the stove and sink ourselves.
Is that possible with normal knowledge, or with the help of an electrician, to do it ourselves as well?

Thanks and best regards!

ok, thanks for your tips.
we'll ask our electrician about the stove...
sink... ok... I'll take a look at those parts. good point!
we didn’t buy the countertop from ikea anyway, it was not only insanely heavy but also insanely expensive! that's why we have a carpenter friend who customizes and cuts everything for us. so it's scored too.

but I'll think about it again!
your remarks are quite solid! :D

Hello If you are not completely unskilled, you can set up the kitchen and also the other things yourself with questions and advice from various professionals. I am currently in the process of setting up our kitchen myself. However, I invested a lot of time in planning; I believe most mistakes happen here. With the new kitchen planner, the design is already very close to reality, but I still change my plans during the setup (about the 20th to 30th time) because you keep coming up with better solutions. Exchanging is not a problem here. If you are interested, I could upload some pictures Regards bergpriv

It would be quite interesting to know what mistakes happened or what you came across (what exactly needs to be considered). Photos are always great.
