I never claimed that all furniture dealers are crooks. I also have others here. But when I look at the pricing with 40% discount every 3rd week, that has long ceased to be serious for me. This whole hassle with calling the supervisor until you get a decent price reminds me more of a Turkish bazaar than a German retail store. It’s no coincidence that buying furniture has often been a topic here as well.
Of course, you can always go somewhere else. But you don’t have children who need to be looked after somewhere so you can spend a few hours in the furniture store checking offers. You wouldn’t do that five times, unless you happen to have grandparents nearby. The year before last, we spent over 7 hours in the furniture store buying a bedroom until we found and put together a matching wardrobe for the bed we preferred. We had time off then, the child was with the grandparents, the furniture store wasn’t busy, the salesperson had a lot of patience and good suggestions. But that was just one bedroom. I don’t want to imagine dealing with the kitchen, which is also due for us in the next 2-3 years.
