Hey,

I am also planning to install a kitchen island in our new house. Having the TV there is of course great! I have to see how I can manage that without our architect lynching me...

We also decided on a cooking island (190x100) for our new construction planning. Only the cooktop is located here as well. We found our island too small for both the cooktop and the sink. Now we also turn 180 degrees between the cooking island and the sink.

From the cooking island, we look into the living and dining area. This way, you can also easily interact with others present while cooking.

We have a 3x1.2 m large "peninsula" (attached to the wall on one end) as a room divider between cooking and dining. Besides the visual aspect, I think it’s great that this creates huge storage space on a relatively small area. Additionally, dishes can be stored in the drawers on the side facing the dining room, and cookware, spices, etc. on the kitchen side. Oven, microwave, refrigerator, etc. are placed behind it in a row of cabinets.
I had some concerns about grease splatters before installing the island, but with a width of 1.2m this won’t be a big issue. And if it does happen, we just clean it. Whether I clean the wall behind it or the floor behind it doesn’t make much difference.
We have two sockets on the island next to the cooktop (the flat recessed rotary solution) and two on the wall.

Regarding the topic of induction cooktops, it should be mentioned that people with pacemakers or implanted defibrillators should discuss the purchase with their treating physician. Pregnant women are also advised to limit use to what is necessary. However, in principle, the use of induction cooktops does not pose any health risk.

It looks about the same for us (just mirrored). Behind the hob, we installed a glass splash guard, so almost nothing gets on it anymore.
Towards the dining room, we put all our everyday dishes (nice wall cabinets with frosted glass doors and lighting, simply placed on the floor), so that "setting the table" can now also be wonderfully taken over by the children.
