Typical house of its construction year, which has not been brought up to the latest standards to this day, but is habitable without showing any particularly negative features (except for plaster and masonry...). So you are buying a house that - as it stands now - was modern and appropriate at the time it was built and is no longer so today. To put it simply: You are buying a car from 1970 that has been driven until today and still runs. But it is not a new car from 2021 - technically and visually.

The comparison is flawed! A car has a much shorter lifespan when you consider everyday usability.
A house from 1978 is a house from 1978, no more and no less. Renovation measures should be planned so that it doesn't become a constant construction site. Then the house can also be comfortably lived in for another 50 years.

What I "always" (so far I have bought a house) find important is what you don't really buy, but comes with it and cannot be changed afterwards: the surroundings. If you have pleasant neighbors - and a pleasing view from your window, that is worth a lot. ... and you can't recreate Lake Constance elsewhere ...

Looks good, I think. Good house with good substance, a little could still be done price-wise because of the basement. However, the last sentence says exactly the opposite.

For me, it only means that nothing has been neglected and there are no defects. The appearance and taste no longer seem to match the current trends, but technically it is livable. You are therefore buying exactly what you see :) So you can move in right away, or redesign everything, your choice :D

Apparently, it is as it is, habitable. What you now put into it financially is mainly up to your own wishes.
The house is probably in demand and the price accordingly high.

Edit:

Told you so.
