Is two meters wide enough for a lift-and-slide door?

Where does your idea that the terrace door could be annoying come from? You also have room doors as wings that you are not planning as sliding doors. I would like to take a look at the layout planning of the kitchen, the kitchen design, as well as the terrace, to weigh what is best. Ultimately, this might also be a last-minute panic towards a plan that basically works well. After all, it was planned for long enough with a double door with mullion. Edit we only have with mullion, my parents and friends as well as acquaintances have sliding doors, and I am glad about our single doors

It concerns the following southern area of the house: As a note: The island would probably shift a bit further south because the passage to the 50 cm wall section becomes narrow and the distance to the cupboard wall including the oven is currently quite tight.

No matter how you open either of the two doors at the bottom left, either the left one blocks the cupboard where the dishes are planned or the right door obstructs the walkway towards the WC.

At the same time, we are also considering whether to switch to a lift-and-slide door in the dining area, here the passage would also be wider. The terrace would be placed bottom left on the plan, facing southwest.

Hmm ... what about the stub 50 cm (orange circle)? Is that just a ceiling support or a floor-to-ceiling wall

But the wing on the left side of the plan now partially blocks the pull-out base cabinet at the bottom left of the plan. It can be pulled out halfway, and if you need something from it ... well, then you just have to close the wing again.

However, I can recommend considering the advice from and . Outward-opening hinged doors. This also has the advantage that in strong winds, the doors don’t swing freely inward but are rather "blown" into the closed position by the wind.

You could consider fixing one half of the double door and attaching the hinges of the door to this fixed glazing (in the middle, so to speak) instead of to the wall side. Then the door can be opened almost 180 degrees and takes up no space because it stands in front of the fixed glazing when opened. Doors that open outward only exist in the north; it is always like that there. Only one HBS can be barrier-free; with a swing door it is very difficult. I would definitely rotate the kitchen island 90 degrees.

The small section of wall is not load-bearing, extends to the ceiling, and is intended to create some separation between the kitchen and dining area. To the right, a sideboard is planned. The door that opens outward would also be an option; the window installer wanted to price that again and confirm the feasibility.

I have to laugh. I first had to think briefly about what you mean by WC. You mean when you come in from outside? I think we don't need to focus too much on the very occasional urgent need now, but rather keep things in perspective overall. Because you can also store something in this cabinet that you don’t want or need to access 10 times within an hour, especially if by chance the patio door is also open. Because these coincidences don’t happen all year round. I actually wouldn’t put the KS there. Here I think a sliding door makes more sense. I would do without this 50 cm wall and use the further wall as load-bearing. I would see the distance to the kitchen unit at around one/1.10 meters with this island length.
