Hello

We are remodeling a house. The living/cooking/dining area will be on the 1st floor, bedrooms on the ground floor. On the ground floor there is also a garden with seating, table, fire pit, etc. But we live upstairs and want to have a possibility to go outside for everyday life, meaning dinner, sitting outside a bit during the week, etc. This terrace would then be 4x4.5m in size. We want to place a table on it (approx. 1.8m), the grill and if possible a small sofa or something like that, nothing big. On weekends/when we have visitors we would probably be more in the garden (at least in theory) but during the week we would like to be close to the kitchen.

What do you think, is the size enough? Does everything fit? Does anyone have a similar terrace and can say how it feels?

Sofa ... I rather don't think so, the rest should have enough space. Just draw it out, place the things you plan at scale on it, maybe even create them as movable paper shapes, and then you can test it wonderfully.

Nothing big, not much… maybe, if there are children, still a pool and sandbox… ???

Do you want to carry every drink for the guests up a floor?
Maybe you should swap the floors??? That would probably make more sense!

A rough estimate: Table 180x80 with chairs and bench -> 300x200 Grill plus space in front 100x150? But it could also be 200x200 if it is bigger Sofa 200x200? with little table? Walkways -> ?? Best if you take a sheet of paper and roughly draw it to scale, including walkways and the patio door. Where you can place your grill also depends on where the smoke will drift. I also specifically dug out one of my garden books, which suggests 3x4m to 4x4m for a table with chairs.

We have 6x4m. A table, 6 chairs, a grill, a chest for cushions, a few plants, some walking space, and suddenly the terrace is actually already too small.

In my opinion, clearly too small. The walkways are missing.
