We also have 9.63m in length for dining and living.
The living room gets 4.70m so to speak. The door is here as well. The dining room gets 3.60m. The second door to the kitchen/living/dining area is located in the kitchen.
So between the dining room and living room there are about 1.40m left over for a narrow room divider shelf at the end of the stairs. This is therefore the ideal central place for phone, laptop, cell phone charging station, mail, etc., and opposite will be the wood stove.
Space between living and dining is always useful, I think.
1. for extending the dining table during celebrations
2. for children to play and
3. as a fireplace corner possibly with armchair, shelf, etc.
It may not be absolutely necessary, but if you have the space, there are many ways to use it. :)
