Is the financing volume for our construction project realistic?

That is quite a general judgment. Such cases will certainly be plentiful, and if I earned 15,000 euros net per month and had no children, I might also drive a Porsche. But I have quite different priorities. A Golf is indeed not really enough for three children and two dogs... ;) Of course, the property is luxurious, and of course the project will be very expensive, but I would never build even one square meter or 50 cm more kitchen just to impress my neighbors. For me, it’s all about giving my family a nice home where they feel comfortable and where the children can grow up well (as far as we can financially manage that reasonably).

Saving 50K through your own work is quite ambitious. You still have material costs, primarily you can save on labor costs. In addition, there is the tool that you have to buy. If I assume €70/hour for the craftsman, that is 714 hours or almost 90 days of 8 hours each. Ambitious.

We have 3 months of paid leave for the interior work (drywall 15'; painting 8', laying parquet 6' and 1' kitchen assembly) ... own labor for the outdoor facilities is spread over 2 summers. But now it’s not about our construction project. Thanks anyway for the feedback ;)

No matter what your own standards are - in the end, a certain discipline to stick to your own plans counts. Many here show that they can stay within the planning framework. This includes having a plan as complete as possible, which is not based on tight expenditures and hopeful income. Also included are some financial buffer and a cut list in case things get tight. I see no reason for concern as long as you take the advice of those who successfully stay within budget and as long as you don’t build like, for example, we did.

True. That was also deliberately put out there in a general way. ;) I just see around me that with status, the demands on the equipment of the single-family house increase. Seems to be a natural constant. Without wanting to be offensive: I personally can’t imagine that someone who sinks 45k in the garden for water features would then be content with an Ikea or Poco kitchen. (Warning, deliberately polemic again, please don’t get hung up on it) I find the overview from very helpful here. Especially floors/painting is usually to be done by the builder, i.e. not part of the main contractor standard. Cool maybe, but economically that would be pretty dumb, to tax so much for such an old car.
