Is a single-family house in the Stuttgart metropolitan area still affordable?

You each earn over 100k per person?

Yes.

Addition:
With us, this is constantly changing right now because of the children. First parental allowance, then nothing more for me, now back to starting work.
But we both have employment contracts that definitely pay six figures for full-time work. In addition, we both have large amounts that are variably paid based on performance, so our income is not quite easy to determine.

Please open a separate topic for your discussion. This thread is drifting off completely.

You like to write relatively blunt statements. That’s why they sometimes stick with me.
But you do contradict yourself quite heavily. You kind of noticed that yourself and revised your post again.
I took a look:

That was very much about how much you value part-time work to spend more time with the children.

Ok. No inheritance. Just a 200k euro gift. That’s nothing.

Can’t take your posts seriously anymore somehow.

It has nothing to do with contradicting, it’s just that with us there is a lot of variability, that’s true. While in August we lived on my husband’s part-time salary, now we live on two part-time salaries. And from January my husband will probably work full-time again due to a leadership position. The bonus payments this year for my husband alone are expected to be 30k-40k, from now on similar applies to me. Of course, with so many influencing factors contradictions arise. And those are not even all the influencing factors. And I still haven’t inherited anything nor received anything as a gift, but a loan for which we even pay interest and which clearly sets out when it has to be repaid. That is not the same as a gift because we would have to consider it as borrowed capital in our personal financial planning. It could be called back at any time with a notice period of 3 months, even though that case is very unlikely. By the way, I am now withdrawing from this forum since our house construction is finished and I see no reason to voluntarily annoy myself. We are doing great, we both completed two degrees with top grades, both have doctorates, healthy children, great parents and are very happy as things are. I owe no one an explanation for anything.

And with an income of over 200k p.a., a loan of €200,000, which you hope/assume you do not have to repay to your parents. Everything's just perfect.

I only completed one degree program with a good grade and finance my life myself without my parents' help. On the contrary, I support them financially....
