In the Pax, the boards are chipboard, and the connections are made using dowels and screws. In Besta and Platsa, the "boards" are laminated on the outside and have cardboard honeycombs inside, very light, and you can hear the chips rattling when you move them. Connections in Besta are still screwed, while in Platsa they are only plugged together with plastic pegs. In terms of quality, I would say Pax comes first, then Besta with quite a gap, and then Platsa. I have all three, but Platsa only in the basement... ;-)

Ok, sounds like PAX is the cabinet of choice in the 50-grid and Metod in the 40-, 60-, 80-grid.

okay we definitely need sliding doors, so the METOD is already out as a cabinet. With PLATSA, the low carcasses are only available in 40 or 60 height. However, as a bench, it is unsuitable because 40 is too low and 60 is too high. You would either need a stool to put on shoes or you sit too low. I assume PLATSA on legs would be a bit less stable, right? Thanks also for the experience sharing. If necessary, I would reinforce the carcasses at the corners with simple chair brackets. Although I have read that PAX is now also "hollow"?? I got the idea for PLATSA from YouTube channel "siwuch**".

You can also work with a really thick cushion... I'm now considering whether I should dare to build the hallway cabinet myself. There are shops that cut multiplex and other materials exactly to size. I need to calculate what it will cost me then...

Why? That probably depends more on the fastening and guiding system of the sliding door. I can't imagine why it would work with an 80 cm Platsa but not with an 80 cm METOD... Pax and the other two really can't be combined due to the different widths...

we now have about 3 generations of PAX (1x around 2007/2008, 1x 2013, 1x 2020) and yes, from generation to generation PAX has "deteriorated". With the current one, a side panel in the 236 cm deep model feels like it weighs only half as much as the original version. Nevertheless, PAX is still clearly of higher quality than Platsa. The wife also initially wanted Platsa, I just said if she would like to store her stuff in the garden soon, then sure - otherwise no :D
