The carport in the southwest is unfortunately a sun killer for the living rooms. A shame. But the driveway really seems to be a bottleneck. So understandable. I find the design quite good under the circumstances. I imagine it would be difficult to get much more out of it. Still, here’s an example if you put the stairs in the west. You wanted some other ideas anyway. If you think about it a bit, you can see that the kitchen could swap places with the living room and the pantry with the shower. With a little bit of "shifting," the main rooms are then back in their original positions. But I wanted to bring the living room into the light since the OP had thought about that. I find the upper floor easier to organize with this stair rotation. The children’s rooms in the south with appealing room sizes – here with balcony access for all. Maybe it will inspire some new ideas.

I would also try to let light into the ground floor through the airspace, e.g. also through the stairwell, from the west and connect the entrance more with the living space.

Cool idea. I don’t have a picture of it in my mind yet, but that should definitely be added to the wish list.

Wow, thanks already for all the input. Even now I have a lot of suggestions that are really important, like the sizes of the children's rooms. Would it be possible to integrate the carport into the house and put a room on top of it? To solve the south-west problem in a somewhat nicer way.

Unfortunately, the dimensions are not recognizable.

As soon as it is located in the southwest, it takes away the sun and the space there. The more it stands in the south and you want to integrate it, the more the whole house shifts to the south, which would then result in a north garden - something you would of course like to avoid. Alternatively, I only see the option of moving the carport slightly around the corner to the northwest. However, this requires exact measurements of the property, which are not readable in your picture - resolution too poor.
