Hello I had a similar problem back then: I have a 60 cm Underverk extractor hood in a 60 cm wall cabinet and on the left and right sides each another 40 cm wall cabinet. Installing a decorative strip directly above all 3 wall cabinets is not possible because the decorative strip would run over the halogen lights of the extractor hood. I solved it like this: I shortened the back panel of the 60 cm wall cabinet at the lower part, which allowed me to recess the Underverk by the thickness of the decorative strip towards the kitchen wall. This then makes it possible to mount the decorative strip across all 3 cabinets at the front without covering any part of the extractor hood. The disadvantage is that you cannot see the buttons of the extractor hood directly because of the decorative strip; you always have to bend down a bit to find the buttons behind the decorative strip. Best regards Section Chief

@Section Chief: but this range hood does not fit into an 80cm high cabinet (according to an Ikea employee), or did I misunderstand that?!? I am ordering my range hood tomorrow and am still undecided which one to choose

The height of the cabinet is not relevant. 202.565.99 Maybe the Ms meant that the 60 cm wide UNDERVERK does not fit into an 80 cm wide cabinet.

IKEA expert, I also wanted to ask you briefly. I have now looked again at the dimension drawings of the flat screens you mentioned. The flat screen protrudes 4.1 cm downwards – the decorative strip (matching Bodbyn) is only about 3 cm – I just measured it separately. So you can still see the flat screen, right?
Oh, I'm just undecided. It’s also true that these fan units are less energy efficient than flat screen hoods. But I don’t really like ruining the whole look of the kitchen.

And regarding shortening the back panel. I have now looked at these instructions from Ikea (but for the flat screen hood) and it explicitly shows that the extractor hood should not rest against the wall (which would automatically be the case if you cut away the back panel) and now I’m wondering again whether this is generally the case (because maybe it’s dangerous?) for all extractor hoods.

EDIT: wow, now I found something great. Siemens has a recessed frame! That might be the solution? If I place the extractor hood deeper than it should be so that it is hidden behind the decorative strip and then can pull the flat screen out from under the decorative strip using the recessed frame. That wouldn’t be bad. Could that work?

Here I have attached 2 pictures of my 60 cm Underverk. In the first picture you can see that the Underverk is now directly against the wall (tile splashback). This is only possible if you cut off part of the back panel. In the second picture (also in the first) you can see that the decorative strip no longer covers the extractor hood as a result. If you were to install the extractor hood "normally" according to the instructions, the decorative strip would cover the halogen lamps of the extractor hood. Best regards Section chief

If you want to use the decorative strip as a handle on the Siemens flat screen hood, then you must install the decorative strip with the narrow side against the cabinet, that is, flat on top as a crown profile and at the bottom with the wide surface as a light strip. I have not dealt with the lowering frame so far.
