That doesn't help you if you stretch a narrow kitchen even longer so that it doesn't promise ergonomic workflows.The kitchen is not fixed yet, that was just an example, we can also move the L further south, we are not planning a counter for sitting there anyway..
You want a bit more comfort, at least you should plan for the fact that technology doesn't stop at kitchens and over the years one or the other device will find its way in. My grandma also praised her washboard and later still wanted the washing machine ;) Although I don't think it makes sense to discuss a ground floor layout without an upper floor (it IS also not sensible), here is a sketch for a good size ratio of living room/kitchen. By the way, it is quite noticeable where the staircase is better placed than by the dirt area door - namely where I marked the AB.Our current kitchen is rather small and actually has everything we need :)
