How to keep an overview of all maintenance (renovation) tasks on the house?

I don't quite understand the purpose of this tool yet. Many things are simply done as needed. And if they are not completed immediately, the world doesn't end or anything breaks. Off the top of my head, I can only think of one regular appointment that I have to take care of. And that is the annual maintenance of the heating system. Even there, I could sign a maintenance contract so that the plumbing company reminds me.

Hi Flo, thanks for your open thoughts on this. It’s of course great if you automatically think of many important tasks like heating maintenance. I agree with you: while it’s true that some tasks can be done as needed, it can still easily happen that important things are overlooked or fall by the wayside. And some of these can lead to unpleasant and avoidable problems. I’m thinking, for example, of smoke detector maintenance, annual inspection of the basement/attic for mold, gutter cleaning, cleaning of outdoor drains (we once had an unpleasant experience with a basement flood), filter changes, and much more.

When I see the full car washes on weekends, I sometimes think that people sometimes pay much more attention and care to their cars than to their houses, even though the latter is usually much more valuable. Not everyone and maybe not in every phase of life, but I have the feeling there is still a lot of room for improvement regarding digital support.

I agree with you that it makes sense to have a reminder for things like filter changes, for example. But a regular calendar is enough for that. I would never come up with the idea to set a fixed date for cleaning the gutter. If it overflows when it rains or I see that there is too much dirt in it, it just gets done. Otherwise not. Everything else that needs to be done regularly is entered in the calendar, and that’s fine. If necessary, it is also postponed if the timing doesn't fit at the moment. If you want, you can certainly find a suitable problem for every app ;-)

Even an app will not be able to avoid many of the problems you described. Unless you set the intervals very close together. But then, in your free time, you are almost exclusively busy checking or doing things and have even less time for activities that are fun or just to do nothing.

Once in the fall, I would definitely inspect the gutter with the drone. Otherwise, my girlfriend thinks it's just a toy for big kids ;)

With family, work, house & co, my free time currently consists 75% of thinking about and organizing various things :) That’s why I want to reduce the "mental load" a bit.

But there’s nothing wrong with you keeping all these things in mind like that. Quite the opposite, actually. Maybe even if you are not the direct target group, you might be interested in taking a look at Homerockr. I look forward to any feedback and ideas.

:D Good point! I've never found a reason to get something like that before. But I see the added value!
