How to keep an overview of all maintenance (renovation) tasks on the house?

I believe there is no dedicated app for such topics (or only a few), as the development effort is relatively high for a rather low demand. A house is not just a house. The topics that arise (can arise) are very diverse. Depending on the age of the house and the wishes of the users, completely different reminders may be requested, depending on the user. It would be correspondingly time-consuming to collect / filter this in such an app. And apart from the house specification, their functional requirement mainly corresponds to something like Excel / a calendar. That's why most people manually piece together their reminders and enter them into an ordinary calendar / Excel / Jira / other planning tools.

You could book a janitorial service. What you want, as an app or as a checklist, does not exist. Period.

As already said, the gutter can stay clear for 25 years if there is no tree anywhere nearby. Or it’s clogged every 4 weeks because leaves are constantly blown in from surrounding trees.

You don’t go for a complete checkup to the doctor every 4 months either, only when something hurts.

You will have to take on the mental load. That’s how it is when you own it yourself.

I once missed the appointment for the chimney sweep and suddenly there was a fine notice from the city for 50€ in the mailbox. It could be resolved retroactively (the chimney sweep had violated his contractual obligations) but it was unpleasant. Nevertheless, I would classify that as "life experience" and still wouldn’t bother with an additional app or calendar thing for it – that’s life.

Take things as they come, better invest your time in family instead of worrying too much about such things. I think you’re getting caught up in something that won’t make life any easier even if you have a calendar for it.

And if you ever forget something and it catches up with you, you just get advice here in the forum, it would be a digital wasteland if everyone here always had everything under control and acted proactively ;-)

Why not just use a regular ToDo app? The standard Reminders app on the iPhone, for example, is more than enough. Just create a second list there and share it with the family. Whenever something comes up, create an entry and, if necessary, set a date. When done, check it off. Done. If necessary annually (heating maintenance), set an annual repetition, then the app will remind you of the task every year.

About 7 months ago, I asked for tips on a web application for organizing maintenance and renovation tasks around the house. We simply found it difficult to keep our house in the condition that meets our standards.

I then decided to work on a web app myself that helps me organize and visualize tasks, costs, and energy consumption around my house. This web application "Homerockr" is now also available for other homeowners / tenants. I would really appreciate your expert feedback.

The following features were important to me:

- available online
- visually appealing
- reminder function
- comprehensive task pool
- motivating to take care of your house

The web app is still in its early stages and I have a long list of features that I would like to complement with function ideas from you.

With the token "ehrenmitglied" (see field during registration) you have access to all functions for free.

I would be very happy to receive any kind of feedback and suggestions.

Best regards,

Carsten
