In my living room, the following are connected via LAN:

1. TV - because we want to use NAS content and smart functions directly
2. BluRay player - because, like Sebastian, we also use smart functions here and get NAS content to the projector.
3. Xbox - no explanation needed, I assume
4. Extra satellite receiver for the projector
5. and in the fifth spot, in the other corner of the room, is an IP cam
6. still free

This way, I can watch TV or use NAS content or smart functions in any configuration without having to switch cables, and either on the TV or projector.

Quick question to the friends of switchable power outlets: When do you turn off all that stuff?! If I cut the power to all the devices at once, some of them are quite temperamental and slow when switching back on...

I would also be interested to know when you completely turn off the power outlets? This was suggested to us today by the electrician as well. I actually find it very practical and energy-saving. But the receiver, for example, takes ages to start up. The stereo system (which admittedly is really old) immediately deletes the time. So for us, the TV and DVD player would be off... Is it worth it?

Nothing is acting up for us, as I say.
I haven't followed the whole thread anymore...

I basically dislike this standby mode.
We have one socket, on which there is a 5-socket extension with the end devices TV, receiver, DVD player, and a floor lamp.
When we want to watch TV, the switch is operated – about 3 seconds later the last device is on. No settings get deleted either. The devices are all about 8 years old.
On the way to the stairs, everything is switched off by the switch – every day.

Currently, we also have many wireless sockets installed in our rented apartment so that we can switch the floor/decor lamps in the living room in the evening via remote control. Our hi-fi equipment (except for the Sky receiver) can also be switched off wirelessly.

I also have a "greener" conscience when I avoid standby consumption. Whether the investment in the wireless sockets was worth it does not interest me that much.

For this reason, I will also try to install switchable sockets in suitable places in our new building.

I accidentally came across this list yesterday:

Device Standby watts (measured) Kilowatt per year* Euros per year*
Stereo system 15 120 35
TV (LCD) 14 112 32
Mini hi-fi system 11 88 25
PC, monitor & printer 10 80 23
DVB-T receiver 10 80 23
Router (DSL/WLAN) 8 64 18
Old mobile phone charger 5 40 12
Telephone (cordless) 3 24 7
Washing machine 3 24 7
Microwave 2.5 20 6
New mobile phone charger 0.3 2.4 0.7

Source: co2online/* assuming 22 standby hours per day

You should measure what consumption the remote-controlled power sockets have. They are quite power hungry themselves (since they are always on standby to receive radio signals).
