How high are your falls - from when does it feel dark and oppressive?

Hello everyone,

last week the site manager hinted that it might happen that the windows on the upper floor would have to manage with slightly less lintel height - instead of the planned 227 cm, possibly about 215 cm. Roller shutters will be installed above the windows. Now I would be interested to know if that is dramatic or okay. If it is dramatic, I would aim to shift the windows towards the gable center (would we even be allowed to do that - I almost fear that the building permit is law. It would be about 5 - 10 cm). I measured a bit - in our apartment all lintels from the floor are about 220 cm. Personally, that doesn't bother me much. At my parents' terraced house the lintels are between 240 cm and 233 cm (both without roller shutters) - but I never really noticed any difference. Do 215 cm feel just as oppressive?

Thanks for your input,
Best regards.

The few centimeters don’t bother anyone - do you have a permit-free procedure? Then definitely not, because no one will come :D.

In our case, the architect was bold with the window & roller shutter box in our bedroom, so the window is now a bit smaller. It doesn’t bother us... whether it feels oppressive, you have to decide for yourself anyway, because that is absolutely a subjective feeling.

In our ground floor, the lintels are all at 2.40m or 2.50-2.60m, upstairs they are a bit lower at 2.20-2.30m due to the roller shutters.

So 2.40 + 25 cm for roller shutters + 20 cm for floor construction + 11 cm for lintel -> just under 3 meters raw ceiling height and later 2.8 meters clear room height? That's of course not bad.

There is a development plan and we have a B-permit - although I also rather don't believe they measure 5 cm to the left or right.

We have a clear room height of 2.72m.

And then nobody will come by anyway to measure anything... even like that, nobody would be interested.

Our venetian blinds have no boxes, but are mounted in the air layer ;-)

I get that with our 2.58 inferiority complexes :p That sounds interesting with the air layer - I don't think you can do without the attachment element for roller shutters, right? We'll maybe do venetian blinds in 30 years when renovating :D I called the site manager and he said to wait for the roof first - he would rather not move the windows. But no, he didn't say that either - we'll see.

You would be surprised - inspections are random but mostly unannounced ;)

Rhenish greetings
