How does my heating system with solar thermal work?

Thank you for the note!
Does it matter at which point this air separator is installed?
Should I still reroute the pipes so that the collector is the highest point?

If the air separator is installed at the highest point, then you don’t need to reroute anything.

In my case, it is located directly after the collector.

So, yesterday I had an appointment with the heating engineer (regarding the installation of the underfloor heating system). I took the opportunity to bring up the problem again and discussed the situation with the pipes: His recommendation is to install a so-called air separator in the basement (I assume at the pump station), which would of course be fine with me if the pipes don't have to be rerouted after all!

I'm slowly starting to despair... (My heating engineer is also running out of ideas). Unfortunately, all previous measures have brought no long-term results. --> Installed an air separator on the combined stratified storage tank, flushed again, and everything worked great! After a short time, you can observe on the temperature display of the controller (ESR) how the temperature of the storage tank (the heating unit was still completely switched off at this time) drops, even though the roof is delivering more than sufficient temperature. I suspect that at some point an air bubble forms and eventually nothing works anymore? My heating engineer would like to disconnect the pipes at the top of the collectors and then flush the modules directly without pipes and also flush the disconnected pipes from the attic downwards. I still suspect the problem lies in the route of the pipes, which go up to the ridge and then down again, and the collector is not (as is the case in most systems) the highest point of the system. Would it also be possible to install an air separator within the pipe (i.e., below the roof ridge under the ridge)? I have already contacted another heating engineer, whom I know has quite a bit of experience with solar thermal systems, to get a second opinion, but he only told me that he only works on systems he has installed himself... I would be very grateful for any advice and tips! Regards

Hi

An air separator was installed in the supply line of the pump station.

Oh, is that the air separator? Could something possibly be set incorrectly or accidentally turned or something like that?
