My heating technician simply placed the outdoor unit on concrete lintels in front of the house (unfortunately, I don't currently have a better picture). He also set the lintels on site into a concrete bed. The lines of the heat pump run behind the outdoor unit through a core drill hole with ring space sealing above ground level into the basement. Between the two lintels, there is a KG pipe filled with gravel for condensate drainage. The area will of course still be made visually appealing, and the lintels will then disappear into the gravel.

How deep were the foundations installed in the ground?

For frost protection, generally 80 - 1.20 m is specified. Whether that makes sense for a heat pump, I cannot judge. Vaillant states 40 cm height for the foundations in its installation instructions.

Better ask your heating engineer how he plans to prevent surface water from running into the district heating pipe from above. There are end caps for the pipe (Uponor Ecoflex). However, to be able to mount them, about 10-15 cm of the pipe should still be sticking out. That is the actual defect; the rest is just aesthetics.

Or rather, by deciding to cut the protective pipe flush with the floor, the heating engineer has essentially already taken the decision between financial compensation and chipping away the foundation off your hands. There is otherwise no reasonable way to fix this, everything else is just nonsense.
