ok, that is very unfortunate! The other wall would probably have been much better. On top of that, the outdoor unit is most likely sucking in its own cold air again and losing efficiency as a result... I would try to unthread the privacy screen from the fence and move the garbage bins away to see if it gets quieter then.

I was just warned because my post apparently violated point 1.4 of the forum rules. I will try again, as I believe that my recommendation does not violate it but rather addresses the issue raised by the thread starter: You have a flat roof, the outdoor unit would be well placed up there.

In old buildings with radiators, yes. In new buildings with underfloor heating, it rather increases energy consumption because the heating system always has to catch up and operates at a higher supply temperature.

How does our heat pump currently recognize which load it has to run? I have disconnected the ERR. It is set to 20 degrees during the day and 18 degrees at night. Therefore, the question for me would be whether this currently has any effect at all.

But I will turn it off anyway. If the heat pump reacts to the settings despite the disconnected ERR, the load and thus the noise in the morning should be lower.

By the way, I activated the Silent Mode earlier. So far, no change is noticeable. Probably because the system is already running at a good minimum.

Your EERs do not matter to your heat pump, whether disconnected or whatever. It does its thing, no matter what you do with your EERs.

Its heating demand comes from the heating curve, that is from AT, slope, and base point. The latter are your set temperatures.
