In other forums, people shake their heads about homeownership. And especially about people who take on 800k in debt that they will still be paying off in 50 years ;) Even in financial forums, it is acknowledged that you should pay off your loan within a reasonable time. Except for a few extreme cases who take out another loan on their paid-off house and go to the stock market with it.

Financially, I see building a house as unproblematic. In terms of life planning, however, I see arrogance or at least a lot of optimism. Child planning in 4+ years, two are supposed to be, the house should be built beforehand, please. Children do not come by DHL. Sometimes they come unplanned, often they take their time, and not infrequently they do not come at all. Personally, I am not a big fan of building houses before you really need them. Let life run its course first and build when you know what you need. Save some equity in the meantime and enjoy life here and now. Keep going on vacations, experience things. Are you sure you want to work full-time again after half a year? Do you know the situation? I know several women with great education and careers who take their careers very seriously. None of them were back at work after 6 months. Please do not take this as an intrusion, but real life is simply not as plannable as lawyers or controllers would like it to be.

Very good income that can be expanded. You save, the catch is the desire for children. I don't want to be cynical now, but woman back to full-time quickly just because of [Heim] willing. I'll save myself the comment.

Everyone sees it differently

Just because of the home, where exactly did she write that? That’s not cynical, but simply an accusation.

Thank you! It has nothing to do with the property at all. Sure, it is financially easier then – although we are also aware that childcare costs money, but possibly only for one year until we have children it might even be free; it is much more about not having done my education etc. for nothing. Before I stay at home for 3 years, a lot would have to happen.
And as has already been said, we do not live in 1950, as can be seen from the fact that I am the main earner.
(By the way, I don’t know it any other way; no one stayed at home for 3 years for me.)
