The technical problem seems to have already been solved in other countries, in France it is apparently much more widespread. The tax aspect presumably there as well. So one would just have to look beyond one's own horizon.

If the inverter, smart meter, and wallbox/car communicate with each other, it should surely be possible to set that the power from the storage is not fed into the grid, but only used for the EV. So why should this result in an island operation with grid disconnection? Furthermore, it should also be no problem to set a limit, e.g. that at least 50% of the power remains in the car battery.

They also relied very early on smart meters, which cost the user only about €20 (the state really invested a lot of money in that). Now almost the entire population and the power grid are ready for it. Have you already had a smart meter installed for perhaps €200?

No, I don’t have photovoltaics or an electric car yet either. In 2 to 3 years we will need a new car. If bidirectional charging is possible by then, I’m considering photovoltaics and an electric car. At least such a smart meter would still be cheaper than an additional storage unit.

This is the chicken and egg problem. You (me too and almost all Germans) don't have any. But for the energy transition and the grids (and thus also variable electricity tariffs) we urgently need them. And because none of us have these devices, there are hardly any offers for bidirectional charging. It's a vicious circle.

Bidirectional charging is currently failing more because of politics. In cases like yours, because they have to make it complicated again. There are some offers, quite a few cars can do it, wallboxes too (maybe not for VW, but they are not currently the first choice for electric cars anyway).
