Hello,
thank you very much for the feedback, I am really amazed at how much thought you are putting into this. We have now also had an initial meeting with our architect (as suspected, not a freelance architect, but a cooperative architect from the prefabricated house provider).
You are probably right about the balconies, at least one of them has already been removed from the plan. My better half is still attached to the other one in front of the bedroom...
According to the architect, the knee wall would be around 1.4m (better than I thought), and the 2 bay windows with a total of 13m2 would add another 30cm to the knee wall. Well, we’ll see, cost-wise you are probably right. For the few square meters of living space, they are quite expensive.
Definitely more windows to the west, of course! It’s actually obvious, but sometimes you are blind to the obvious. And also a west terrace, even if it ends up a bit narrow.
The architect said that on the plot he would try to make the house a bit longer (more like 12-13m * 8-9m instead of 11.5m * 9.5m). That would enlarge the west side, and also raise the knee wall a bit (the house is a bit deeper due to the narrower width). Additionally, the space for the terrace would be bigger.
What do you think, would a house that is, say, 12.5m * 8.8m still look good and be functional, or would it look strange? I hardly ever see it from the side myself...
Somehow we have to figure out how to get the bathroom on the ground floor onto the east side, for example. It’s really a bit of a shame on the west side.
By the way, the street to the south is probably very quiet, it’s the last street in the new development area. After that comes a small strip of forest or fields.
Best regards!
