Help needed for initial construction planning

Building a house is always complicated. Why did you go the route of an architect? That is not wrong per se, just usually more expensive. That the architect says you can't take a house off the shelf is clear, he wants to sell his service!

That is not correct per se. Building with an architect does not have to be more expensive. And if an architect offered me a house off the shelf, the first thing I would do is change the architect.

Try contacting other providers in parallel, although you will have to pay the architect now anyway - after all, you commissioned him to draw the floor plan,.....

Hi Wastl, this architect has been recommended to us several times recently. He is already retired and builds houses because he enjoys it so much. I don’t think we have to pay him for the floor plan – we didn’t commission him but he said he would sketch something by hand and then we could decide what we want to do. But I will double-check just to be sure!

In parallel, we are now also gathering other offers, because I can’t imagine that the big prefab house companies don’t have a solution for us. They must also have floor plans that they can customize....
