I personally believe that energetically there will not be an exodus. Otherwise, I agree with you on one point: the best energy is the energy you don't consume. Purely kWh-wise, you can compare very well.

Electricity for me 21.5 cents/kWh (:5 for heat pump)

Gas I pay 4.58 cents/kWh

Oil is according to the internet 61.8€/100l
Corresponds to about 6.2 cents/kWh

But this is only the pure comparison between energy prices. A full cost calculation over possibly 15-20 years would be sensible.

Oh, by the way: with gas/oil, solar thermal often comes into play because otherwise it often gets tight with the Energy Saving Ordinance.

Ok, we didn’t need that, we have raised the insulation accordingly. Ok, can / must that then still be added to the heating?! For me, being economical was important.

That no longer works today. You need a share of renewable energy. Unprofitable solar thermal is the usual solution, those who can invest more and want comfort choose a ventilation system with heat recovery. Biogas also works, but who even has that.

Thriftiness is crucial for me. But the GCs often add a lot of extra costs here as well. Not everyone can/wants to pay that. And the energy saving ordinance was tightened in 2017.

So, we also have a controlled residential ventilation system with heat recovery, and for me, that is the be-all and end-all. I agree 100% on solar. GU, they don’t just add costs, they often also do botched work. Regarding the Energy Saving Ordinance, everyone says that building has become expensive, but that’s not entirely true. I also get a lot more (whether one wants that is another matter). But the statement that everything is twice as expensive as before is not correct. I can’t get a Polo anymore for 5000 euros either, but no one cares about that.
