Those who are commercially very clever and like to gamble build today with a fossil energy source and replace the system in 15 years with substantial environmental subsidies. Plan connections already now...

Those who think not only of their wallet but also of the climate and descendants exclude fossil fuels from the outset in their new building.

May I ask what you pay for your gas condensing boiler with underfloor heating and so on? So the "cheap heat pumps" are not no-names either... These are manufacturers like LG or Panasonic!

I absolutely don’t know anyone who has a maintenance contract for their heat pump, let alone has it serviced annually. Myself included (but I don’t have an outdoor unit). These are hermetically sealed systems. The brine had to be refilled shortly after commissioning, since then the fill level has been stable.

Whether it’s worthwhile or not, you only find out afterwards anyway. There was no gas here at all, so the decision was clear.
The heat pump was more expensive to purchase, including drilling, than gas, but there was a €5000 subsidy. I just got it now, the gas newcomer will get it in 10 years or whenever the exit happens.

I agree, you should also think a bit about the environment! And the price difference is not enormous regarding purchase, consumption, maintenance, etc.

Caution with the demonization of fossil energy. Car, one! Nissan Leaf. Annual mileage 20,000 km. Results in 100 full charges at 45 kWh each, equaling 4500 kWh electricity demand per year. Our annual consumption without a car for two people is 1800 kWh. These are the ratios. With an electric car plus possibly a heat pump heating, 200% more electricity demand per year. Scale it up to all of Europe....where should this electricity come from if not also fossil or nuclear power! Figures from the ADAC

Everything very nicely said.

A small addition:

Even in the summer half-year (April to September), the solar yield is 4 times as high as in the winter half-year (October to March). Or in other words: only 20% of the yield occurs in the winter half-year, precisely when the yield would be most needed.

PS: Namesake of Lef's theorem?
