Heat pump on separate meter or together with household electricity

We researched how much cheaper heat pump electricity would be here compared to regular electricity, and the savings did not outweigh the basic fee for the second meter. When our electrician then said that a second meter could be installed later at any time, we decided against a separate heat pump meter. Since we use photovoltaic, we now have a bidirectional electricity meter. However, we cannot get our electricity from just anyone, as some companies exclude heat pumps in their terms and conditions. Stromio, for example, is an option.

We also decided against an additional heat pump meter. With the electricity providers that would be relevant for us, it would not have been worthwhile. Maybe search in the forum, we have already had the discussion. There was only one heat pump electricity provider without a basic fee for which an extra meter makes sense. However, this provider does not operate nationwide.

But you have to make sure that your electricity provider also allows heat pumps in the [AGB]. For example, Stromio prohibits the use of electricity for heating purposes. Strictly speaking, this also includes innovative heat pumps. The original intention, of course, comes from different times and different load levels.

One can debate the sense or nonsense, but legally it is indeed not allowed, even though a vacuum cleaner or some hairdryers draw more power than a new 8kW heat pump.

So always consider the risks with incorrect tariffs.

Below 2500kWh, the second meter is always nonsense because the discount is always offset by the additional costs of the second meter.

You may possibly have the choice, it depends on the network operator. Mine, for example, would allow it.

Electricity tariffs (today) I would save a little with a separate meter (household 19.3 cents + GG, heat pump 19.0 cents no GG!).

The problem, however, is that many providers exclude heat pumps for regular electricity, as tox already mentioned. That makes switching etc. considerably more difficult and you have a small selection.

I am still torn, especially because of the blackout periods. I fear that the power grids will become more unstable, and there will be increased reliance on shutdowns.

The discussion recently took place in the green forum as well - I am with a discount provider and I simply don't care about their terms and conditions. If in doubt, they will cancel your contract - that's what the terms and conditions say. Help, I'm scared

I connected everything to one meter, but each has a sub-meter for the heat pump including control and another for the heating element, which can also be "hard" switched off separately.

And of course, no blocking times with that...

yeah that was me

I looked at the 5 cheapest providers in detail on Verivox.
extra and maingau allow it, for example.
Strogon, Grünwelt and Stromio do not.

But Stromio is boycotted by me for life anyway. They simply did not execute a timely cancellation and did not release the connection. The new provider then could not access it, then basic supply etc.. Annoying!! I was then casually dismissed with ".. You can complain in writing...".
