There is no technical difference with duct devices. Only optical.

Unless, of course, you have a complete HVAC unit installed, as is common in offices, for example. Then you have an all-in-one device with dehumidification in summer and humidification in winter and everything that goes with it. But that usually starts at around 50K or so.

In #2 and in the last post, almost everything was said. For a 1-2 million project, 50 k€ for proper air conditioning doesn't really matter anymore. Still, well-planned shading is half the battle for the summer.

May I ask, relevant to the topic, what temperatures you have today in the kitchen / dining room? Last year we roofed over our south terrace and covered it with tiles, since then the sun no longer blasts into these two rooms so much (kitchen is southeast, dining room southwest)… in the west we have the shutters closed …. KFW 55 house …. 26 degrees I’m melting ….

Exactly 24 degrees. In the morning, ventilate by opening windows wide for 1 to 2 hours, and in the afternoon, completely lower the south-facing shutters.

That reinforces my consideration to think about air conditioning early on. It is nice and good that heat pumps achieve a certain cooling effect. However, if this is not sufficient, one is stranded in traditional German houses.

For us, it is certain that we will include the component. Only the decision remains whether to install a central climate & ventilation system or split units.

With rising temperatures in D, 24 degrees on the ground floor is too high for me.

In the morning usually 22 (sometimes even less) Evenings around 23.5. On the upper floor generally 1 degree more. Mostly shaded and passive cooling activated via underfloor heating. (KfW60 timber frame hut)
