btw.: I find the original object many times more attractive than the planned final goal. The greenery is already there and you should be happy about that. With the stone floor, the choice of plants and their growth is probably not so easy. Maybe the wall can be beautified a bit with cozy trellises or something similar. I don't see any reason for the ugly boards - whether round or flat. What I would rather tear down is the toy fence and the unnatural lawn.

Katja, there is some truth to that. To properly terrace the slope, you would need machines to remove and add soil, and I don't have the money for that. Then I'll leave it as it is. I had also considered filling a mini-long trench, about 10 cm deep, 10 cm wide, and 12 meters long with some gravel (drainage?), so the water doesn't just wash down the slope. Since the slope is already somewhat greened, it probably wouldn't be necessary. Maybe plant a few wild roses and shrubs. Something like a mini-terrace by the bigger bushes/trees or is that pointless? Mini-fence in the bed is against the dog (likes to dig out). Pulling up the roll lawn—certainly not voluntarily, that will be fun in summer. However, if the summer is as dry as last year, the enjoyment of the lawn will be rather low. What do you put on the soil instead then? Thanks and regards

Ah, cheeky dog - well then. ;) Have you ever had a torrent rushing down the slope? The current planting is certainly the best protection against that. Maybe you could trim it a bit and here and there set some accents with selected plants for poor soils. I would only build if there are problems.

I tried yesterday to spray with the hose and Gardena shower, despite some mulch the water runs off. Has anyone successfully installed watering rings and root irrigation on a slope? For root irrigation, there are professional systems that connect to the water supply, with swirlers, etc., expensive and complicated. If I don’t connect it to the water supply, couldn’t I just bury a soak pipe 1 meter vertically and fill it with stones? Something like in the picture, costs 5 euros/m, of course I don’t know how well I hit the hole with the hose from above and how much actually reaches the roots. For watering rings, I found such a watering edge plastic that you have to assemble into a ring yourself, but it is only 30 cm high, unclear if it can be installed on a slope with a 45-degree angle.
