Ground floor front door, what door width is suitable for a large entrance area?

Hello everyone,

our ground floor is currently being built, and while analyzing the plans, one thing somehow totally slipped past us: the width of the house entrance area - it is currently 3.11m...

We actually find a spacious entrance really nice, and many houses, in our opinion, tend to be too small there. But over 3 meters is, of course, quite a chunk that needs to be filled.

On Friday we are going to the carpenter we trust to look at examples there and get some advice. So far, we have assumed the classic window-door-window without a transom.

However, in my opinion, the windows would look a bit too wide, hence the question to you: How wide can an entrance door be while still being practical to use? Is 115 cm too wide? We have also seen double-leaf doors, but somehow that seems a bit too "overdressed," doesn't it?

Many thanks for a few pieces of advice :).

Good question, it will be similar for us. What speaks against wide windows on the right and left? Until now, I thought of making all three elements the same size for us. We will probably foil the windows in the lower area. Generally, I find a wide door nice and I am also interested in what width is still comfortable. I find double-leaf impractical.

I have seen a similar door width in our housing development as well. If I manage to, I’ll take a picture and post it here - I really liked it. Glass on the left and right of the door.

The proportions of the individual elements should be related to the entire view and designed accordingly. If your symmetrical house facade has a small window on each side, disproportionately large side windows do not look good.

Phew, our view in the attachment - symmetry in the entrance area, but not anymore afterwards o_O

But that was our mistake - in the view, the front door doesn't look that big at all. I think the door could be bigger there...

Hmm, I like that both windows exactly match the two windows on the upper floor. Or am I wrong?
