In our bathroom, there are stone slabs that I really like because granite is such a primitive material. I did not expect that such dark spots would form and remain. I assume that it is oil or grease (from the cosmetics range). Does anyone know of a remedy to remove something like this? (Put a cloth with acetone on it for a few hours ... or something like that?)

If there is no remedy against it (which I assume) it’s okay too. After I photographed it, I realized that the stain looks like a dolphin jumping out of the water. That’s nice ;)

We have (also or had as well). If you're lucky, it will dissipate within the next 12 months ...

We have started placing low but large, transparent acrylic boxes on the windowsills in the bathroom, where cosmetic items can be stored.

not that I have no plastic at all (and where it is "needed" I am also glad to have it), but I have been trying for many years to avoid plastics. In this case, I would probably have to find a stainless steel tray .... ;)

... until that is found, I hope for the "evaporation" of the already existing dolphin stains o_O

Naked or painted wood? Bamboo? Self-carved? Or made of soapstone. Then at least the name gets a plausible meaning...

In your thread you said in response to my comment that unsealed granite is very sensitive, that in your experience nothing happens.

Quote:
"In another bathroom in the same house, there have been 2 granite slabs on the right and left next to the shower for years, they are very rarely 'maintained' and look perfect.
My experiences don't have to convince anyone, but I like to encourage."

And now you're surprised about stains, although I warned you? Normally, these stains do NOT come off anymore. They at best become a little weaker. You should have maintained the granite ;)

........ actually I wanted the stone because I assumed you only wipe it off if there is something "on it" ... and that's it

Far from it

"now you wonder about stains even though I warned you?"

firstly, even I am still learning ... and secondly, I don't shower with oil ;)
Water has not made stains there so far ...
