Hi,

we are about to have the planning meeting for our single-family house, but we are initially not planning to include the construction of a garage. We are considering building the garage later. The reasons are, on the one hand, the costs and, on the other hand, the building permit probably takes longer (the latter is not decisive for us).

If we build the garage later, I would actually like it to have a direct connection to the house. Does anything need to be considered for this? Or is it sufficient to factor in the space, plan supply lines/pipes, and possibly already plan the access door?

Or do you say from experience that, in the end, the effort is not worth it? The alternative would, of course, be to first build a carport and later a separate garage.

- the utility room should then be on the side of the garage, so that you can go outside directly. - the position of the door should be such that you can park your car in the garage later and still open the door - accordingly, you should already think today about what the garage should approximately look like later - you absolutely have to think about the electrical wiring that will be needed for it later. of course, protected separately... - it does no harm to lay a 5x2.5mm² cable to the outside for future electric cars (400 volt connection)

... with us, it is forbidden to build over the supply lines. ...

The door! Depending on the (state) building regulations, this is then a fire-resistant door. It should also be taken into account in the energy saving ordinance calculation ;-).

No experience, ask me in five years :P. But what costs do you want to save? Will garages be cheaper in three years? Is it then cheaper to make strip foundations, instead of doing everything at once now?

a garage is certainly much more expensive than a carport. but it looks better and is definitely less maintenance-intensive. I wanted a garage, in the end it fell victim to the cheaper financing. I'm still not really happy about a carport...

If your focus is also on quality and durability with the carport: no ;)

Rhenish greetings
