We also have a wide (5m) and are very satisfied with it. Initially, we also considered getting two small ones. But I would always choose a large one again.

2 gates 2x installation costs? Also a point where you can save. With the center post, you can maneuver much worse in the garage if you are working on something inside.

If you have 2 gates, you can simply open just 1 gate when planing, drilling, crafting, or whatever, and you won't stand in the wind. With one large gate, it can quickly become uncomfortable in the garage...

I think it depends on the intended use.

If it is going to be purely a garage for parking, definitely 1 large gate!

that was also an argument from the construction manager. That you don’t have to open the entire front for a party. However, the garage is really primarily used for parking for us.

we actually also thought that 2 smaller gates would be more expensive because of 2 systems. He wanted to get back to us about the one big gate, but it almost sounded like a big one could be more expensive. He said something like the lintel would have to be twice as thick and that a big, high-quality gate would cost something. Something like that, we don’t have a price yet but it somehow sounded like that.

The double free-spanning length requires a somewhat more elaborate lintel, and a narrower, cheaper gate can also be sufficiently stiff. Congratulations on the atypical case: in the majority of double garages, at least one half does not contain (everyday) cars, but pedal cars / scooters / junk or motorcycles or other seasonal vehicles. The two-spot-wide gate then reveals this storage side to the whole world every time and lets the wind blow in pollen and the like. With a center post, you have to maneuver three times and the car is parked in the middle, even if you didn’t drive it in exactly that way. The he and she simultaneously getting in and out like synchronized swimmers only happens in American cheesy movies. In reality, with the single double gate, an unneeded half almost always moves along.

Is often the case but according to garage regulations not permitted as garages are only for parking motor vehicles
So theoretically nothing as a hobby room or storage room...
