From when must one know as much as an Ikea employee?

Very sad matter!

What was the colleague at the counter thinking?! Of course, it would have been right to point out the signs on the shelf, but simply dismissing the customer afterward is simply rude.

Maverick hit the nail on the head. It just can’t go like this.

To speak up for the employees at customer service. Normally, the employees there strive to help the customer, but NATURALLY also point out mistakes. This was done, but no more. It just happens that a wrong package is on the shelf and is mistakenly taken, we are all only human, this should be exchanged in an unbureaucratic way and that’s it. I can only imagine that maybe a new employee was "let loose on humanity too early," was overwhelmed by the situation, and no existing colleagues were nearby to help. Although that is no excuse either.

Although I am not at the Oldenburger Haus, I still want to apologize for this kind of behavior. Simply embarrassing...

Now I also want to report how it ended!

In the system, the "wrong combination" was found 3 days later, I have now been there, I was treated very kindly, I was able to exchange this table, and I received travel expenses for 2 trips. That means it will be credited to me in the next few days.

And another satisfied Ikea fan!

Many thanks for the mental support, have a nice week here!!!

After the initial back and forth, it really came to a very good solution. That they also paid for your gas is crazy. That’s what you call service.

That is really very unusual. I once bought a couch at IKEA and for some reason only one cushion instead of two was in the bag. I only noticed this a week later at home (because the items were delivered), then I went to IKEA and they gave me the cushion without any fuss. I showed the receipt and that was it. Normally very accommodating...

The service also depends a lot on the individual store. At IKEA Frankfurt, I have had rather worse experiences. Also, in the [Fundgrube], they sometimes offer goods that belong more in the trash.

That's just the problem when you have to make money from nonsense.
You pay less in the bargain bin for that, and nobody is forcing you to buy.
