Hello,
We bought our house turnkey and are now struggling with a long list of problems. One of them concerns our garage door, and I hope someone can possibly give me helpful tips on this.
This is a Hörmann ALRF42 industrial door, which is flush with the facade and clad with wooden slats. To achieve the flush surface, the door had to be installed logically within the reveal. Due to the cladding of about 70mm, a gap had to be planned above the door leaf to the reveal to allow the door with cladding to tilt inward.
Now the problem: The area above the door is completely uninsulated and even translucent, which causes the garage to cool down completely in winter. I had actually planned to use the garage as a workshop for my vintage cars, which is only possible to a limited extent due to the cold and lack of noise insulation.
Question: How are flush-installed door constructions professionally installed? Is it standard to leave these unsealed and uninsulated? Does anyone have an idea how reasonable remedies can be implemented here?
For illustration, I am attaching photos.
Thanks in advance for any help.
