When the underfloor heating is on, the tiles are very pleasantly warm, and I wouldn’t even need rugs in the bathroom. But if not, then the tiles are cool. And that is, for example, also the case during the heating period at night. Barefoot in the bathroom... then I already have the typical ice-cold feet. In summer, when it’s very warm, you’re surely happy about the cool surface... But otherwise? I have stoneware as floor tiles. Does that play a role in the temperature?

I have a mix of tiles and laminate. Actually, I was thinking of vinyl, but a flooring dealer had a separate room for each type of floor, and the chemical smell was very noticeable in the vinyl room. He also said right at the beginning that he never installs vinyl in children's rooms; he would rather forgo the business because he couldn't reconcile that with himself. And that is a very reputable store that has been selling and installing floors for generations. However, that was three years ago. I couldn't afford high-quality parquet, so I decided on high-quality laminate. I really like the floor, and it bears no resemblance to the laminate from my rental apartment days.

Why is that? With underfloor heating, no night setback is made.

The material of the tiles absorbs the temperature well and stores it. That should also last through the night, especially since the temperature is not significantly reduced. Possibly by 2-3 degrees... For us, nothing is cold, except sometimes in the transitional periods of spring and autumn, when the heating doesn't know whether it should heat or not ops:

Because you say you cannot judge the quality in terms of durability by the price. Have you seen/installed one of the three manufacturers live?

fortunately, quite a bit seems to have changed in the past three years, if the Blue Angel for gluable vinyl has only been available for about one year



The advantage of tiles in terms of thermal conductivity compared to vinyl is clear. But the further advantage of tiles in terms of heat storage compared to vinyl should be negligible if you take vinyl suitable for underfloor heating with relatively good thermal conductivity, right?
