A small addition: The idea is great - one could possibly expand the airlock a little and accommodate the washing machine/dryer there. Thanks for the great suggestion!

I like the floor plan, as well as the house design itself.

I agree with the suggestion of my predecessors to swap the children's and parents' floors. Reason: when you move in, the children are 6 years old, two years later they no longer walk all over you, but rather on your heads. Friends will be brought along, individualism wants to be lived out. You should retreat upwards. For exits (roof terrace, etc.) in the meantime, there are locks: a lockable window handle for the roof terrace or other windows... it works for others too - not every day does a child fall out of the window, more likely from the windowsill.

I would reconsider and swap the basement and technology rooms: the door area as a basement and "clean" storage room, the enclosed space as a technology room. Technology all the way in the back, storage options in front.

Airlock doors could also be positioned somewhat more sensibly so that cupboards can be placed.

I find the children's rooms too small and it's annoying when enclosed space is simply sealed off without being used. But you can certainly also build it that way and settle in it.

Thanks for the input - it definitely makes sense to swap the basement rooms, that is logical!
The airlock will certainly be changed as well.
Thank you!

Yes, I agree. We plan to leave the attic open and have a ladder leading up on each side, so that you could possibly place a bed there. That would probably add about ~2 sqm each. You probably mean the "dead" space at the top left in the floor plan?! Yes, that is also an eyesore for me, but probably unavoidable. Perhaps a "mini" access from the bathroom to that space will be created so that something can be stored there – but the space isn't really necessary. Of course, it would be great if somehow the lost space there could be added to the children's rooms or to the additional room. Thank you very much!

Well, if you already had the idea yourselves: then we probably overruled the architect. Aesthetically, he can manage that, I would say.

A barn (Tenne) fits better in a residential house when it has a rural history. Whether a roof terrace needs access from the hallway depends on through which rooms it can otherwise be entered / would have to be entered.
