nice planning! I would like to raise the following points for discussion and look forward to your answers: - front door opening outward to have more space in the entrance area? You have a canopy, so rain is not an issue here. Next to the door there is a glass area marked, so you can see if someone is standing in front (with frosted glass you can see shadows). If this is not possible or desired, I would maybe hinge the door on the left so as not to block the entrance to the wardrobe. - I have a spiral staircase and curse it regularly. Especially for children it can be dangerous at times. If it is unavoidable for space reasons, I understand, otherwise I wouldn’t do a spiral staircase again. - I would forgo the double door between the study and living room, as it takes up a nice space for cabinets. - I would extend the terrace up to the terrace door near the kitchen. - slightly shift the aforementioned terrace door towards the dining table? Usually only one wing is opened. Assuming it is the right one (kitchen side), the bar stools are in the way. If it is the left one, you practically run into the table. Shift the door a bit towards the dining table and the perfect passage to the right door is created.

I wouldn’t do that voluntarily! We currently have that in our temporary apartment and it’s annoying! When people ring the bell and you open, they first have to take three steps back, which confuses many. Sometimes a parcel deliverer places something right in front of the door. Depending on how big or heavy the package is, I have to move the package more or less easily to the side with the door, then go outside and pick up the package behind the door. I just find it terribly annoying with the door opening outwards!

I find what you see as a disadvantage less annoying than having the door in the way of your own movements when going out and coming in every day. If there isn't enough space, then a door is simply in the way. Better to open outwards then. This is often done around here because the houses are small. For me, it's "normal," but in Germany it is apparently rather an exception for the door to open outwards.

Yes, in Germany that is unusual, especially in a new building. In our current apartment it is like that because it used to be an emergency exit. Since there have already been large deliveries standing in front of it as often as we’ve had, I wouldn’t have been able to get out quickly in an emergency. But no delivery person recognizes that this door opens outwards.

I thought so too, but I didn’t mention it because beyond a certain degree of "you can just leave it like that (without guilt)" I find it more appropriate not to mess with a result anymore. A house is almost never a stable (in the sense of "fixed") state anyway.

I believe you, however, if you have a fence around a house, the postman theoretically doesn't come to the front door anyway. And people who ring the bell also wait in front of the fence first. If there is no fence, these are of course aspects that need to be considered. However, from experience I can say that the "stepping back three steps" is not as dramatic as one might think. You just have to weigh it up; in return, you have more space inside.
