Hello everyone,

I ask for honest opinions on my floor plan draft of the ground floor. Unfortunately, I have never built before and will surely overlook one or the other "problem area." The two passages to the kitchen and living room are planned without doors.

Hello 7shots,

what I (personally) don’t like:

- the vestibule is quite small and doesn’t look very inviting either, if you receive/send off a few people you end up stepping on each other’s feet
- generally I wouldn’t put a door between the vestibule and the hallway, maybe just a larger opening
- the (guest?) WC is quite big, if no shower is planned I would make it smaller
- to get to the pantry you have to go through the hallway and the vestibule
- why is the door to the kitchen squeezed in there? I would leave it out completely
- I also find the furnishing of the living/dining area difficult, you can’t place a table in the bay window if you still want to use the doors there, it doesn’t really fit in the middle either, where should the couch go? You have a large room that is hard to use
- the bay window is quite large, intended?

Regards,

Sebastian

I hope no architect was involved, just you as a first attempt. Completely leave out the vestibule. I see no point in it. Remove the passage to the kitchen; otherwise, you hardly have any storage options in your hallway (shoe cabinet, wardrobe, possibly stroller... and so on). I would swap the pantry and the WC. Try to furnish the living/dining area. You will really have difficulties. There are too many windows/doors in the living area. You have no way to place bookshelves if desired.

Hi, if you are already designing yourself, then you have to furnish consistently and consider whether you really want to take such paths (Speisekammer durch den Windfang). Then you should design completely. Floor plans and elevations do not exist independently. You have to view everything in context from the beginning. This floor plan is probably a very first idea of yours that you better discard again. Regards

Thank you very much for the constructive criticism. I had already suspected the issue with the windbreak, but it was somehow the countermeasure to the possible draft due to the missing doors to the kitchen + living room. In my current version, I have omitted the door to the kitchen and drawn a wide glass door to the living room. Now there is a relatively long corridor with a width of about 1.80 meters and a length from the front door to the glass door of about 4.5 meters. I don’t know how this will feel in reality. The guest WC is to be equipped with a shower, hence the size. I have now drawn in some of the furniture just to give you an idea of my planning. However, I will still have to draw the furniture to scale. The width of the bay window is due to the fact that I want to have enough space around my dining table to get to the garden / terrace.

I ask for further opinions. Thanks in advance.

Apparently something went wrong with the size of the image. Here is the second attempt:
