something like that would make sense, with or without doors.
Thanks for the suggestion for the kitchen planning. Yes, the kitchen is actually a bit too big. It is filled much better this way! We definitely need to plan something (a block or something similar) in the free dance space. I like your idea of an open kitchen. I can hardly imagine it as a closed kitchen with doors because otherwise the kitchen would be split in two by the walkways.
I would hardly or not at all change the basement. Why do you want to tear everything out there? That would be structural nonsense. Take the best room and make it nice as an office – I would tend to use the laundry room. (How does the window actually fit in with the terrace there?)
Thanks for the suggestion for the extension; we had not considered anything in this direction so far. I would like the open entrance area with the relocation of the front door and the toilet. However, I don’t know to what extent this is feasible. The building envelope is already fully utilized at that point, and in front of the house there would be quite a few stairs. From the street to the front door on pedestal height, there are currently already six outdoor steps.
The basement is actually supposed to remain largely as it is and is in a good dry condition. We initially considered using the basement room that is accessible straight ahead from the stairs as an office. But we actually imagine a working day in the attic with a large roof window to be more pleasant than in the basement. It is currently also unheated and if the basement ceiling still needs to be insulated, then the ceiling height is not generous.
I still don’t know where the front door is planned. I would also be interested in some photos, especially outside and of the stairs.
So far we thought of leaving the front door where it is. Here is a "photo" of the entrance area from outside. I actually have no photos of the indoor stairs at the moment. I’ll do that next time I’m there.

The terrace door/exit from the dining room should actually not be a problem. The basement window has a light well.
