How much more expensive would it have become?

We didn’t even inquire about the option with only studio roof trusses because we were already over our budget and wanted to avoid all unnecessary costs, considering it not that important. We were interested in the option with open space upwards in the attic and gallery, which would have cost about 15,000 euros more.

Yes, for your information: The open ceiling costs quite a lot because more insulation is installed there than if there were a storage level under the roof. Of course, it depends on the square meters, but for us, it was already 5,000€ over an area of about 25 sqm.

Although the insulation should not be the major cost factor, with a 22-degree roof pitch you have 0.7 sqm more per meter at 9 m width of the house. The more expensive part is the more complex roof construction; you might also need supporting walls, etc.

Even more so some many working hours, scaffolding for the interior, hazard allowances and more residential drywall :)
The roof construction too, so in your case, that is the topic here. For us, the construction remained the same. Just wanted to point out that the 15000 for the gallery and co include far more than the roof construction itself.

I wouldn't want to have to crawl through it gymnastic-style either. It's not just black/white "or" the decision between all one way or all the other. On both sides of the hatch, I would want to comfortably access the next two panels – bending over is strenuous enough, it doesn't also have to be on all fours when you have something to maneuver.
