For the view into the garden: I see it completely relaxed: shift or enlarge the window area so that you can comfortably look outside.

That is a nice compliment, Yvonne. Thanks. So you think it is good that we decided against a division?

We are missing the corner on the left side of the open space that we need for the hallway to the children's room and bathroom. When the 2.70x2.70 meter couch is fully occupied, it will be difficult to watch TV, or how do you see it? Those sitting on the children's room wall lean forward to see better, and those sitting on the exterior wall at the top lean back with neck strain. Maybe Kaho's picture shows what I mean:

How about reflections from the sun?
Does anyone have any ideas for the children's room/hallway/corner couch area or the room itself?

We will take our daughter upstairs with us when we stay longer. It would be better if the upper floor were wheelchair accessible. But implementing that is more difficult than expected.

Wishing you all a happy new year!

I had also experimented with dividing the rooms. However, I doubt whether that is an improvement. But I can post it anyway.

There are too many walls and thus corners that could disturb someone in a wheelchair. Sofa corner: Unfortunately, I have no ideas [emoji17] However, one could rotate the TV a bit. For later separating the floors, I actually thought that is still current. On the ground floor, I already see a small age-appropriate apartment. On the upper floor, walls would have to be torn down for that. However, the two units would be better suited if they are lived in "within the family."

I share the doubt. Dividing the open-plan space tends to create mini-states rather than coziness. It seems to me you removed width without adding it back elsewhere (?) Sometimes visualizing a dead end can help

The idea of rotating the sofa as in #21 did occur to me as well, but precisely because of the (in my opinion, even without a wall) seemingly space-reducing effect of this layout, I discarded it again.

Huh? The children's room had to give up a few square meters. Is that what you mean?

Yes, that's why I uploaded it once.
