First I thought: the staircase should be turned with 3 children, otherwise it will get too chaotic in the open space as they get older. But then came the note about the basement... so no turning!
With a kitchen/living room switch, there would be the problem that everyone comes through the staircase from above into the living room. Not nice either.
I don't see the space problem in the kitchen, since the pantry/utility room is practically around the corner and quickly accessible. Personally, I don't like the meager space for a wardrobe in the bedroom. Maybe the hallway on the upper floor should be made a bit larger, aligning Sam’s room in size, and the gained space used for the wardrobe. But I don't think that will work out.
One option on the ground floor: living room becomes the office, kitchen moves into the current office, so rotation of the rooms. The facade might become friendlier as a result.

Otherwise, I like the design.

You mean more space for closets? This is our closet today, we don't have more I only have suits and shirts, 2 T-shirts and 1 pair of casual pants. 6 pairs of socks/underwear. My wife has 2m of space. What is not so easy to see here, above the master bathroom there is a mezzanine (hatched area). This is a kind of "gallery" in the bedroom. Here I can set up my workspace. I'll think about it, thanks. Phew, that really pleases me We haven't done too much wrong.

Have you matched the bathroom setup with your habits and routines? I wonder if it wouldn't be better to have only a shower in the en-suite bathroom and instead two sinks or a double sink, and have the bathtub with a second shower in the larger bathroom next door. For me, that would definitely be more practical in the morning, just quickly jumping into the shower. If I feel like taking a bath, I would simply "claim" the large bathroom for half an hour in the evening.

In the large bathroom, we plan to have two sinks. This is not correctly shown in the plan.

I shower in the bathtub. This saves us from having another shower. We have a shower on the ground floor; the children tend to shower rather than bathe (I wouldn't need a bathtub at all), so I shower in the bathtub because my wife absolutely needs a bathtub, "You never know, there are always situations...".

Actually, only the children bathe sometimes.

Well, my husband now takes baths every once in a while; rheumatism or some kind of 'back' problem. And I take a bath when a cold is coming on and I want to warm up because of chills. Happened just last week. Admittedly, we don't get beyond 2-4 times a year. But if you didn't have them then, it would be silly too.

Well, those are of course good reasons, and that is exactly what it is best suited for. My children love the rain shower, so I "took pity" and shower in the bathtub. I am not a born wellness person, so that doesn’t bother me at all. The bathtub is equipped with quite a lot of flat bottom, so that is no problem. Otherwise, we bathe just as often as you do.
