At least, that's how I would start. And place the house as close as possible to the building boundary on the right side of the plan.

And then you could try to possibly move the entrance to where the pantry is now:

Then the door into the kitchen could be in the center and possibly run as a glass sliding door in the wall to the kitchen. And someone coming in cannot look directly onto the sofa.

On the wall at the bottom of the plan, there would be a window opposite the stairs, where a sideboard could be placed, and to the right and left of it simply tall cabinets for coats and as a storage area for things like canned goods, pasta, drinks, etc.

Possibly the 160 cm there could still be increased to 170 to 175 cm, then the living/dining area would only be about 493 to 498 cm instead of 508 cm. The position of the stairs could remain; at the end of the stairs you would then only have a larger storage area under the stairs.

you could move the kitchen to the top of the plan and make the area above the stairs a pantry. The living room can stay the same size. But I think the storage space will be too little overall, and the hallway will be even bigger :(

Why does it have to be a west garden? Why not turn the house 90 degrees and place it next to the garage, which is opposite the driveway? Then you would have the main gardens to the south and east. I would find that much better for the overall arrangement. Although then the floor plan wouldn't quite work like that anymore....

Just as a suggestion, I once sketched this version for someone else. The house is a bit wider, without a chimney it could probably be about 50 cm narrower without significantly changing the layout. The north orientation was similar there. Also, the driveway is a bit further to the right, but that wouldn’t be a problem. The idea here was a garage (more like a bicycle/lawnmower room) and the cars parked nose-first under the "walkway."

What you can do nicely with the garage on the left, then a kind of "walkway" to get into the house dry, is to make the terrace area a bit more private.

Of course, this also depends on the desired usage wishes for kitchen/dining/living. The upstairs bathroom would probably have to be drained through a shaft on the right side of the dining room wall ;) ... not ideal.

But there are many storage areas.

Original of the OP liked! Especially since floor plans with an entrance at the front are more demanding.

Just a detail note in favor of the children's room on the upper floor on the right side of the plan. The wall thickness to the bathroom should be greatly increased. Keyword flushing and dropping noises.....

Storage room without a basement is very tight. Where does the laundry dry?
