Tell me: where is the heating going? Did I miss something about a basement?

I find this design tidier, yet the rooms on the left on the ground floor can certainly be revised.
Would a knee wall increase, and then without a dormer, not be more interesting?

According to the information from the architect, the placement of the heating technology and electrical systems in the "Schleuse" is possible in terms of space – I have not recalculated this yet. Regardless of the price (I still need to have that recalculated), a geothermal heat pump, photovoltaics, as well as somewhat more complex electrical systems could be accommodated – I believe the architect has planned for a "small" condensing boiler. A possible ventilation system would be located in the attic.

I think the knee wall height increase will be problematic, since I have to stay 1.5 stories – if I understood the issue correctly, with a higher knee wall the allowed area upstairs would be too large and counted as a full story – I think one would need to recalculate and plan this carefully.

Do you see the knee wall height increase as advantageous due to the general space offering, or can one save on a dormer in this regard?

Regards
Markus

There are clearly 3 steps covered by the ceiling to the upper floor. These then allow access to the bedroom. And my concern is that especially when going down from the upper floor to the ground floor, one could also get headaches sometimes. That’s why the section of the staircase.

Room height is 2.57m + ceiling construction 0.34m = 2.91m height to be overcome from ground floor to upper floor. This makes about 18cm per step with 16 steps. After 12 steps, you have already descended at this point, so you have 2.16m of space above at this point. That should be enough, right?

No ... because at that point there are still 3 to 4 steps = 54 to 72 cm. And, the lower edge of the ceiling height on the ground floor is at 257 cm ... that means at the junction there it is then 185 to 203 cm ... and then you also have to remember that when going down you push off from a step and move slightly upwards.

That's why I would just like to see the cut of the staircase ;)

Correct. You have to subtract the ceiling structure of 0.34 m from the 2.16 m and then you are at your approx. 1.85 m
