Well, there seem to be penny pinchers in every aspect. 1000 kWh is really extreme. In my extreme saving phase back then, I also managed to drive my nearly 200 HP car from the 90s !!! with 6.x liters...

No idea how that happens... as I said, we don’t pay any attention to that at all... I banned energy-saving lamps from the apartment back when I moved in with my girlfriend... in the bathroom there was, for example, a 4 x GU10 spot spotlight... one of them already had 35 watts... in the other rooms Osram bulbs with 30% light savings are installed everywhere... so not even LED...

Maybe somewhere a cable is just connected incorrectly, I have no idea. But I’m fine with that. Now in the new house, I’m still waiting for my first annual statement....

Well, you can take a look at the meter every now and then...

Saving water is honorable - but in Germany it is not necessary. We have enough water. And if we don't send it through the pipes, then the municipal utilities do, so the pipes don't get clogged. The less water we consume, the more expensive the liter becomes.
And calling the plumber once because the pipe behind the toilet is clogged again due to the "super save button" costs more than properly flushing 12 liters per flush.

Moreover: as long as I eat meat, I don't have to worry about 100 liters here or there. A meat patty/Bulette/Fleischpflanzerl/Burger requires 2,500 liters of water to produce. And that often does not take place in water-rich Germany!
In short: skipping meat once a week saves as much water as 15 average Germans send through the pipes on that day.

Just my 2 Cents...

I’m not intentionally saving water; I’m also surprised that it’s so little. I also water the garden sometimes (but only the newly planted plants, the others have to manage). I don’t eat meat, I’m a vegetarian with a slight tendency towards HCLF*-vegan. Apparently, one is now called that.

Yesterday I timed my shower: 2:56 minutes. I would have guessed twice as long. And today I read the water meter: 23 cbm since the beginning of the year. This will probably be a bit more than 33 cbm this time!

I also read the electricity meter on the occasion, 1240 non-subsidized and 859 subsidized. That’s really a lot (the air conditioning and the electric cart will have their share). In the whole previous year it was 1830 non-subsidized and 1420 subsidized (non-subsidized = supply from the electricity provider).

There is of course nothing against an ecological way of life (whether intentional or unintentional)! But we will probably go off-topic...
