PS: Just to mention, if you have to buy your wood at a high price anyway and don’t have a forest in front of your house and mainly want to see a fire just for the coziness, you can also use a gas fireplace, clean & easy to regulate... and nowadays fully developed in appearance. Even the flame pattern and burning behavior can be adjusted, today of course all done via smartphone app... just google "DRU Eco Z-Wave", here’s a video: , since I am a "wood fireplace fan" (not just professionally) I was very skeptical at first, but now I have to admit that there really are "cool units" out there, and the price difference to a "normal" fireplace is also small. It’s really something great, coming home, pressing a button or using your phone and the fireplace is already burning... You don’t always have to get the last bit of efficiency out, a bit more feeling of life / lifestyle isn’t bad either.

For the wood boiler or wood gasifier, there is definitely Bafa funding @ TE. We also heated with a wood stove (workshop stove) this winter. It has 5 kW and easily warmed the entire upper floor, around the stove the temperature was about 24/25 ° (thermometer is 4 m away) but comfortably up to 22° in every corner. The upstairs area is 90 m2. However, this was before finishing the insulation. I think next winter it will be too warm with the stove. Then the pellet boiler is supposed to provide the heating. Unfortunately, these wood stoves are not available with less than 5 kW; ours is already really small, only 30 cm x 30 cm footprint. The same applies to pellet boilers, even if they modulate.

there are also controls for wood stoves that regulate the burn rate; based on experience, most people tend to put too much wood on anyway (especially after a new chimney/stove has been installed)

PS: the size (30x30) doesn't matter, everyone knows that OK just kidding Fresh air regulation on the "workshop stove" cannot be expected, of course

With a good stove / fireplace, you have the possibility to control the output power by means of automatic control of the air supply from outside... with some stoves with built-in storage (stone), you can also regulate the convection (warm air flow) and thus, for example, heat up the storage more and still use the heat when the fire has already burned down...

Which stove without a water jacket do you recommend for the open living/dining area (approx. 45-50 sqm) in terms of kW output? The house is to have [KFW 55]-standard.
