I actually consider the roughly 10 K for a double solution, compared to the saved basement, to be a bargain! Two "normal" double casement windows instead already cost easily 2 to 3 K. Just with a large light well with drainage, etc., you quickly reach this difference. And you actually have a view that extends further than up to a gabion wall, where you would almost bump into it with an outstretched arm. :)

Yes, I assume connections on the ground floor. There is then a concrete ceiling between the upper and attic floors, also because ceiling cooling is planned. We would simply like to be able to use the attic for office, hobbies, fitness as well and not just as storage.

These are exactly the considerations both in terms of costs and view (we would really have a very cool distant view). Of course, with the costs you have to take into account that the expansion of the attic still causes additional expenses: insulation, stairs, generally a somewhat higher roof structure, possibly air conditioning necessary. However, it should still be significantly cheaper than the finished basement. What makes me uncertain is that there is almost nothing to find about attic expansion with a hipped roof. Therefore the question whether the idea is really that good...

For my general contractor currently still around 7-800€. One. You can just divide it up. Still again; you have to be aware of the sloping ceilings: 30 degrees and that on all areas can feel oppressive. Ps: Have the attic conversion (drywall) including freezer room, heating pipes, windows and floor coverings calculated. Edit: Replies crossed each other

Just look at the progression of the 2m line, on all 4 sides it quickly ends with standing height. The photo with the roof windows does not have 30 degrees, calculate the length for 2m height for your case. If there is no basement anymore, and everything is supposed to go upwards, a hip roof is not good. Look at the attic of a show house with a hip roof. Our dream house also had a hip roof, but after the architect meeting, it quickly became a gable roof with an open gable.

Thank you very much for the input! I already come to about 30°, what do you think it is? Of course, these are not 100m² with standing height but I come to at least 30m². Not everything is supposed to go upwards, there is also a storage room behind the garage.

But I understand the concerns, we are occupied with them as well...
