Have I understood correctly after reading it several times that you want an 80 cm wide flat screen hood in the 70 cm high wall cabinet and a 40 cm wide and 70 cm high roller shutter cabinet is supposed to stand on a countertop?

hi you two,

thanks for the answers. maybe I'll explain it in more detail after all:
so the countertop has a depth of 80 cm. length 3m. an 80cm ceramic hob is to be installed. now there is no "original" extractor hood cabinet that is that wide. can I also take a normal 80cm cabinet and hang a non-Ikea extractor hood in it? has anyone of you ever used a wider hob than 60cm and had a built-in extractor hood??

the countertop is 80cm deep around the hob (50 cm on both sides). then a sliding shelf is to be placed on the countertop (so between the base and wall cabinets). originally we wanted to put a roller blind in between, but ikea doesn’t have the roller blind in the right height or color (we want white). we are currently looking for non-Ikea alternatives. the sliding door is still available, 1.20 m wide and 70 cm high, so basically perfect. only we don’t know if the doors can still slide if the cabinet is sitting on the countertop (because I think a sliding cabinet is actually meant as a wall cabinet....I hope this was clearer :D

In principle, that is possible. You have to look at the dimension drawings of the hood manufacturer and see if it fits.

About 20 cm remain free between the wall and the cooktop. A normal upper cabinet with 35 cm depth no longer fits there. It would have to be shortened considerably in depth. And when I think about grease and other splatters from cooking, I do not want a cabinet front behind the cooktop.

If the corpus sits directly on the countertop, the doors no longer slide or the corpus cannot stand on the countertop at all. You would need a small plinth between the countertop and the sliding-door cabinet corpus and thus an even greater distance between countertop and upper cabinet. I find 70 cm already too much to comfortably reach the cabinets if you are not 2 meters tall.

hey IKEA expert!

Thanks for the reply....

you probably misunderstood....nothing else is supposed to go behind the cooktop....that's about 50cm away.....

I suspect the same about the sliding shelf as you do....I just thought, since you can also place the glass display cabinets (upper cabinets) directly on the countertop and they can be opened, that maybe the sliding element would also have some kind of base underneath, even though it doesn't seem that way in the picture

this extractor fan is driving me crazy....I'm still a complete amateur at this, but from what I've read so far, it is recommended to use a 90cm extractor fan with an 80cm ceramic hob....if I want to install it in an IKEA cabinet I have the problem that there is no 90cm one....now I think I have also seen extractor fans where only the bottom part is 90cm and the (installed) rest is narrower...so that the 90cm is only below the upper cabinet....but maybe I'm just imagining that and it's not possible....we are interested in a stat and I find such a stainless steel part, a free-hanging one, absolutely not an option....

guess I have to keep searching a bit.
oh yes, we are both 180cm tall and have the upper cabinets almost that high in the apartment, so we know that works for us....if however we can't take the sliding elements either (as well as the roller shutter) it might be that we go down 10cm....

thanks and have a nice evening!

best regards

The cabinet with the sliding doors is only available 120 cm wide, so I assumed it should go behind the cooktop as well. Maybe you will find a suitable hood from manufacturers like Berbel, Gutmann, Best...
