And to his reaction – well, what is he supposed to answer you to that?
Yes, I committed review fraud because an unsatisfied customer/competitor tricked me?
Regardless, I would also base the commissioning more on the work to be done (small or large?), the range of offers (is he by far the cheapest?), and a more detailed conversation about the order and the execution itself.
I would have expected him to at least say that there were problems on Google before and that's why he did it. I mean, it's obvious anyway (and provable) that the reviews are nonsense. So why pretend otherwise when someone has noticed it?
I had also assumed that maybe he simply had a hard time getting orders again because of a messed-up Google profile. That doesn't have to mean anything yet; a single "bad" customer can cause serious trouble.
Otherwise, he is not necessarily the cheapest (I haven't even gotten an offer from him yet), but for now the only one.
I have to disagree with you there. A large part of the "normal" craftsmen are also active on platforms. Some of them are even large companies (30-40 employees). Of course, there are also many duds, that’s probably true.
True, so far I've only had good experiences on the portal as well. But I've always relied heavily on the reviews. Unfortunately, this one had none yet. Hence my skepticism.
Depending on how big the washbasin and the cabinet underneath are and what kind of wall there is (drywall) etc., it is already 1 day of work with 2 people (for large washbasins you need 2 colleagues).
1 day installation, travel, silicone joints, small parts, etc. pp
1000 including VAT is quite realistic
Well, it’s a guest WC. The whole room is not even 3m², the wall in question is maybe 1.60m. Two wooden boards about 30cm deep are supposed to be mounted there, the upper one needs a hole for the connections, and the washbasin must go on it. It won’t be bigger than max 30cm deep since there isn’t much space. How to fill a whole day with that I don’t know, but I’m not an expert.
And seriously, you could do that yourself. He as a craftsman probably manages it well enough.
No, I actually couldn’t.
I see it the same way. So far I have always found all my craftsmen through personal contacts, and that has always worked very well. Conversely, I (not a craftsman) get most of my orders through personal contacts as well. With internet platforms, you’re moving completely in a vacuum. That can work, but the risk of problems is too high for me.
That would be my preference as well. Wherever possible, that’s what we do. That’s also how we selected our general contractor. But my husband and I are both in IT, have nothing to do with crafts, and are the first in our circle of friends to build. So getting craftsman recommendations is rather difficult. :/
