We have had good experiences with craftsmen on such jobs, whom we also hired for other tasks. For example, our heating and sanitary installer. Since we had already spent XX,000 euros with him anyway, he also installed and connected two Ikea sinks in the basement on an hourly basis at the end. Similarly, the company that carried out the drywall and tiling work also installed all the interior window sills we bought ourselves on an hourly basis at the end.

Well, trust is really important when it comes to craftsmen. If you don't have that, you'd better take someone else. Or you take the cheapest and are personally present during the installation so they don't mess around.

Now to the anecdotal part:

I have had very good experiences with MyHammer for small things related to demolition. Disposing of an oil tank, for example. The local specialist company would have wanted more than double and would have only started months later.

The electrician I found via the portal is a complete disaster. You would think it’s his first time working on a construction site. Permanent changing personnel and everyone(!) including the boss work... no, botch(!) permanently. But he was cheap.

If it’s really just about small things, like hanging up a washbasin, I would ask the other craftsmen on the construction site. Basically, any of them can do that. Or they know someone. At the moment I have a very good carpenter/window maker/drywaller who is happy to do all the small jobs for me. And does it really fast and in the best quality. Next week he has to fix the electrician’s botched job.

Good craftsmen do not need to advertise on MyHammer. As I said, I also had no problems with Romanians and Bulgarians. But I found them through neighbors or acquaintances. Better to use Ebay Classifieds, preferably someone from your region so you can check their work.

I would have expected him to at least say that there were problems on Google before and that's why he did it. I mean, it's obvious anyway (and provable) that the reviews are nonsense. So why pretend otherwise when someone has noticed it?
I had also assumed that maybe he simply had a hard time getting orders again because of a messed-up Google profile. That doesn't have to mean anything yet; a single "bad" customer can cause serious trouble.
Otherwise, he is not necessarily the cheapest (I haven't even gotten an offer from him yet), but for now the only one.

True, so far I've only had good experiences on the portal as well. But I've always relied heavily on the reviews. Unfortunately, this one had none yet. Hence my skepticism.

Well, it’s a guest WC. The whole room is not even 3m², the wall in question is maybe 1.60m. Two wooden boards about 30cm deep are supposed to be mounted there, the upper one needs a hole for the connections, and the washbasin must go on it. It won’t be bigger than max 30cm deep since there isn’t much space. How to fill a whole day with that I don’t know, but I’m not an expert.

No, I actually couldn’t.

That would be my preference as well. Wherever possible, that’s what we do. That’s also how we selected our general contractor. But my husband and I are both in IT, have nothing to do with crafts, and are the first in our circle of friends to build. So getting craftsman recommendations is rather difficult. :/

If you have a bad gut feeling, you should sometimes trust your gut. Sometimes it is smarter. The task is thankless. But if you ask all the companies of this trade in the immediate vicinity, sometimes a little crumb falls off. Good luck! Gabriele

I can only recommend going around with the topic of craft search, house construction, etc. at work. Suddenly you have a common topic with colleagues, where otherwise you only greet politely and have found no other topic. Especially with older colleagues. You will get recommendations there. And if you call the craftsman and say who recommended you, they will come directly. Or even ask a craft-skilled colleague who friendly helps for a little "gas money", e.g. 100€.
